Our Story

Friendship You Need

Friendship You Need, or FYN, was founded in June of 2026. We see the many challenges that teens face, and we realize the effect that those challenges have, such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, hopelessness, and even suicide. We strive to put youth in touch with caring mentors who would love to help them navigate their challenges, and who will provide hope - the hope that Jesus provides.

Our Mission

To connect hurting and struggling teens with safe, caring, trusted relationships that provide immediate support, ongoing hope, and opportunities for deeper healing through compassionate human connection.

Volunteering   

We believe in God, the Creator of heaven and earth. Jesus is God and was with God before the foundations of the world. All of creation was made for Jesus and through Jesus. We believe that sin separated us from God, and that for our sin we are deserving of God’s judgment, but that Jesus died to take our place, and our punishment, that we may live. We believe that Jesus died and was buried, and that God raised Him from the dead, so that we may now live through Him and His righteousness.

We believe that God is one God who reveals himself as 3 distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that when we are saved, the Holy Spirit empowers us, living in and through us to make us more like Jesus.

We believe that the Bible is God's inerrant word and that it is important for teaching, preaching, guidance, and correction. We believe that it is important to read, study, and apply the Bible’s teachings for righteous living and growth in grace.

We believe that Jesus is returning to his people according to what has already been said and written in God's word. We believe that the believer in Jesus will face accountability for their actions in this life and the unbeliever will face judgement and eternal punishment in hell.

We believe that Jesus is King over all, that His name is above all names, and that the heart of God is to be known through his son Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that we have been entrusted with the opportunity to share our faith and hope with others.

Jason Parker
President and Executive Director

Long before moving to Myrtle Beach in 2019, Jason desired to start a program to help youth. He brings with him years of management experience across multiple sectors, including technology, facilities maintenance, foodservice, and school transportation. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology, and he is currently working toward a dual master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. He is an author, and he is actively involved in his local church.

Noah McBeth

Treasurer

Noah McBeth serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors, bringing professional experience in financial oversight, budgeting, contract management, and organizational operations. As an HOA property manager, Noah works closely with boards of directors to manage association finances, oversee budgets and contracts, coordinate major projects, and help organizations make responsible decisions with their resources. Having called the Myrtle Beach area home for more than 25 years, Noah has developed a strong connection to the local community and a commitment to giving back. An Eagle Scout, Noah has carried the values of service, leadership, and community involvement with him throughout his life. Today, that commitment continues through his volunteer service as the Director of the Safety Team at his local church, where he helps coordinate efforts to provide a safe and welcoming environment for members, families, and guests. As Treasurer, Noah is committed to providing responsible financial stewardship while helping ensure the organization has the resources and stability needed to fulfill its mission and make a lasting, positive impact in the community.

George Hansen

Secretary

George Hansen has a heart of service. He loves to encourage and uplift everyone around him especially through the word of God and faith in Jesus. George is also a living kidney donor who donated a kidney to a stranger in need in September 2022. Since donating, George continues to be an advocate for the transplant community and a mentor for those pursuing the opportunity to become living donors.
